Education and Zakat Funds Distribution: BCA Syariah and BAZNAS Invite Customers to Pay Zakat through Mobile Banking

Jakarta, March 26, 2024 - PT Bank BCA Syariah (BCA Syariah) in collaboration with the National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) of the Republic of Indonesia held a media gathering themed "Getting Closer with Zakat". This event aimed to educate and increase literacy about the benefits of zakat in alleviating poverty and the convenience of zakat payments through sharia digital banking services. The educational event was attended by journalists as financial literacy agents expected to be at the forefront in providing positive news about the benefits of zakat, thus enhancing public awareness in fulfilling zakat obligations.

Distribution of Customer Zakat Funds at BCA Syariah - BCA Syariah's Director, Ina Widjaja, handed over customer zakat funds to BAZNAS RI's Chairman of the Collection Division, H. Rizaludin Kurniawan, at the Media Gathering event "Ngabuburit Bareng BCA Syariah & BAZNAS: Getting Closer with Zakat" on Tuesday (03/26/24).

During this event, the zakat funds from BCA Syariah customers were handed over by Director Ina Widjaja to BAZNAS RI's Chairman of the Collection Division, H. Rizaludin Kurniawan M.Si. CFRM., in Jakarta (3/26/2024). Director Ina Widjaja stated, "The zakat fund handover today is our commitment to channel the customer's entrusted zakat funds to BCA Syariah. We are partnering with BAZNAS RI for its credibility in managing zakat funds nationally, to provide maximum benefits in improving the economy of mustahik individuals."

In 2023, BAZNAS RI carried out poverty alleviation for 54,081 mustahik individuals, with 21,140 of them being in extreme poverty.

Chairman of BAZNAS RI's Collection Division, H. Rizaludin Kurniawan M.Si. CFRM., said, "Zakat plays a vital role in income distribution and helps improve the community's economy. BAZNAS manages and distributes zakat funds transparently and professionally. Through synergy with sharia banks, it is hoped that more people will benefit from the distributed zakat," Rizal added.

The zakat funds handed over to BAZNAS are channeled through an economic empowerment program for micro-entrepreneurs in the form of capital assistance for business development for 30 micro-entrepreneurs in East Jakarta. In addition to business capital assistance, BCA Syariah and BAZNAS also provide financial management training.

Ina explained, "There are at least two conveniences that BCA Syariah customers can utilize to pay zakat. Firstly, customers can use the auto-debit feature available in savings products such as savings accounts, current accounts, and deposits. With this feature, a monthly 2.5% automatic debiting of the returns received by customers in savings products will be conducted, so customers need not worry about forgetting to fulfill zakat obligations. The second convenience is through BCA Syariah's e-channel Mobile and Klik BCA Syariah, enabling easy zakat transfers anytime, anywhere."
