BCA Syariah Plants 1,500 Trees in Cisitu, Sukabumi to Support Flood and Landslide Mitigation

Jakarta, 28 November 2025 — BCA Syariah, in collaboration with Jejakin, carried out the planting of 1,500 trees in Cisitu Village, Nyalindung District, Sukabumi Regency, on Thursday (27/11). This initiative reflects the Company’s efforts to strengthen upstream watershed areas, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and support the mitigation of hydrometeorological disasters, which have become increasingly frequent in recent years.

Vice President of ESG, Corporate Communications & Secretary, Muhammad Fikri Hudaya, stated that the initiative is further strengthened through collaboration with Jejakin. “We believe that sustainability is not solely about business, but also about the Company’s presence in creating positive long-term environmental, social, and economic impacts. Tree planting in the upstream Cisitu watershed area, along with joint monitoring efforts with Jejakin, is expected to generate tangible benefits that can be directly felt by the surrounding community,” he said.
The tree-planting program utilizes a variety of productive tree species, including durian, manglid, and avocado. The combination of different tree species is expected to deliver greater environmental benefits by maintaining natural nutrient cycles and enhancing carbon absorption. In addition, the use of productive trees is intended to provide sustainable economic value for the local community.

The collaboration with Jejakin supports the program through curation and monitoring technology based on the CarbonAtlas platform. Through this collaboration, the growth and condition of the planted trees can be continuously monitored and managed through transparent, measurable, and data-driven reporting. Monitoring is conducted using Jejakin’s IoT sensor technology integrated with the CarbonAtlas platform. Beyond technology, Jejakin also acts as a liaison between BCA Syariah and community groups in Cisitu, enabling cross-stakeholder collaboration as a form of collective action in addressing climate change.

The tree-planting activity also involved internal BCA Syariah volunteers from various work units. In addition, the program included a discussion session between BCA Syariah and the Forest Farmer Group (Kelompok Tani Hutan/KTH) in Cisitu Village. The session focused on strengthening financial literacy and group financial management as practical provisions for the community in managing harvest yields and productive activities in the upstream watershed area. This initiative reinforces the role of the community as the primary steward of the area while directly enhancing local capacity.
BCA Syariah has consistently carried out tree-planting activities as part of the Company’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program. Previously, in 2024, the Company collaborated with various stakeholders to plant more than 3,500 productive and mangrove seedlings in several locations, including Semarang, Karawang, and Bogor.

In addition, BCA Syariah has implemented various sustainability initiatives by integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects into its business activities. As a sustainable Islamic banking institution, BCA Syariah is committed to channeling financing toward sustainable business activities (Kegiatan Usaha Berkelanjutan/KUB). As of October 2025, sustainable financing disbursement reached approximately IDR 1.8 trillion, accounting for 24.6% of the Company’s total financing portfolio of IDR 12.3 trillion.
