BCA Syariah and Istiqlal Halal Center Facilitate Halal Certification for 50 MSMEs

Jakarta, 25 September 2025 – PT Bank BCA Syariah (BCA Syariah) in collaboration with Istiqlal Halal Center (IHC) held a Halal Product Certification Training and Mentoring Program participated by 50 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This halal certification program aims to enhance the competitiveness of MSMEs and support their sustainable growth as part of the halal ecosystem.

The strategic role of MSMEs as the backbone of Indonesia’s economy serves as a strong foundation for BCA Syariah to take an active part in strengthening their capacity and competitiveness. According to data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs, in 2025 the number of MSMEs in Indonesia has reached approximately 66 million business units, contributing significantly to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

At the same time, demand for halal products continues to increase, both domestically and globally. Therefore, halal certification is not only a matter of compliance but also a significant opportunity to accelerate MSMEs’ growth and market expansion.

Pranata, Director of BCA Syariah, stated, “This program is part of our continuous effort to strengthen the halal ecosystem in Indonesia, while also supporting MSMEs to scale up and become bankable. We hope this small step will open wider opportunities for MSMEs to access larger markets, both nationally and globally.”

The Government of Indonesia has set a vision for the country to become a global hub of Islamic economy, focusing on the halal value chain, Islamic finance, and halal lifestyle literacy. The halal certification program is in line with this vision, providing broader access for MSMEs to integrate into the halal ecosystem.

The halal certification program is part of BCA Syariah Peduli Sejahtera, the bank’s social responsibility pillar. The event was attended by women entrepreneurs who graduated from BCA Syariah’s WEpreneur program, mustahik MSMEs fostered by BCA Syariah in collaboration with BAZNAS, as well as local MSMEs from around BCA Syariah’s head office. Participants received training, technical consultation, and mentoring to obtain halal certification under the self-declare scheme. This certification is expected not only to serve as a formal label but also to encourage the adoption of halal standards in daily production processes.

Pranata added, “We believe that the success of MSMEs cannot be achieved by their own efforts alone. It requires close collaboration between the government, educational institutions, halal communities, financial institutions, and of course, the MSME players themselves.”

As of August 2025, BCA Syariah’s financing in the SME sector grew by 14% to IDR 922 billion. The Macroprudential Inclusive Financing Ratio (RPIM) also recorded a positive growth of 6.8%, reaching IDR 3.3 trillion.
