BCA Syariah and Toya Perdana Lhokseumawe Formalize Partnership for Tap-Ready Drinking Water Project in Lhokseumawe

Jakarta, 16 June 2025 – PT Bank BCA Syariah (BCA Syariah) reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable financing by providing an investment financing facility amounting to IDR 318.298 billion under a Musyarakah Mutanaqisah (MMQ) agreement to PT Toya Perdana Lhokseumawe (Aceh Water). This financing supports the development of a Drinking Water Supply System (Sistem Penyediaan Air Minum or SPAM) in Lhokseumawe, Aceh Province—one of Indonesia’s pioneering projects to deliver potable water directly from the tap.

The financing agreement signing ceremony took place on Monday, 16 June 2025, at Ciputra World 1, Jakarta. The event was attended by BCA Syariah President Director Yuli Melati Suryaningrum, President Director of PT Toya Perdana Lhokseumawe Cipta Ciputra Harun, and Director of PDAM Ie Beusaree Rata of Lhokseumawe City, Saifuddin.

President Director of BCA Syariah, Yuli Melati Suryaningrum, stated, "This financing reflects BCA Syariah’s ongoing commitment to support the development of essential infrastructure that brings tangible benefits to society. Access to clean and safe water is a vital foundation for building healthy, productive, and sustainable communities.”

On the same occasion, President Director of PT Toya Perdana Lhokseumawe, Cipta Ciputra Harun, expressed, “This collaboration marks a promising beginning for both parties in supporting the public welfare in Lhokseumawe. This project not only enhances public service delivery but also offers an innovative solution for water management that is environmentally friendly, efficient, and sustainable.”

The SPAM Lhokseumawe project is planned to serve thousands of households across four districts: Muara Satu, Muara Dua, Blang Mangat, and Banda Sakti. The raw water source originates from Cot Trieng, with more than 27 kilometers of main pipelines already installed. Infrastructure development includes hydrostatic pressure testing, road repaving, and the implementation of occupational safety standards. With the availability of ready-to-drink tap water, residents of Lhokseumawe are expected to benefit from long-term improvements in their quality of life through easier access to high-quality drinking water. This project also supports the reduction of reliance on groundwater, which has long contributed to seawater intrusion and ecosystem degradation.

BCA Syariah views this financing as part of its contribution toward the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. This initiative further affirms BCA Syariah’s role as a strategic partner in national development through productive, inclusive, and responsible sharia financing solutions.
